I had the BEST time with Baby B today. I just had to post a little teaser for his mommy! His smile melted my heart, but there was something about this image…Something about the way his eyes sparkled. Something about that pouty little bottom lip. Something about those chubby cheeks and dimpled elbows, that made me fall in love with this one. This is why I love what I do. More to come of this handsome little guy…
I had a blast photographing these lovely ladies a few weeks ago. They wanted something urban and fun and I think we accomplished that! They were so stylish and looked amazing in their bright colors! Thank you for letting me capture your family. I hope your parents enjoyed your thoughtful gift of photos of their beautiful daughters and granddaughter!
Here are a few of my favorites!
Isn’t Baby A such a doll??!! She has the sweetest little lips. So feminine and so pretty. She must get them from her mommy. 🙂 I feel so honored to have captured so much of this little one’s life already. Thank you so much to her mom and dad for trusting me to capture her newborn portraits. I can’t wait to watch her grow.
I told myself to keep this post short so I could catch up on blogging, but she was just too cute…especially in all those hats!
Enjoy!
I ADORE this one of mommy and baby!
so sweet, i adore the one of mom and baby too, so beautiful
Melissa, you’re the best! Thanks for everything!
Amazing work. You are quite talented. . . just beautiful.
I’ve been a bad blogger lately! The holiday rush has had me swamped since November and I’m finally making time to sit down and blog. I first want to share an experience that ranks up there among the most amazing of my life…getting to photograph Baby A’s birth. The experience was so thrilling and honestly incredible. First of all, thank you to my sweet friend (a.k.a-the birthing goddess) who is allowing me to share these photos of her very intimate experience with you. Thank you also to the wonderful midwives at Holy Family Birth Center and Lorie Martinez-Dykes with Baby Matters Doula Service. I know the support of these women made the birthing experience wonderful for momma and baby!
I’ll start by saying that I nearly missed this birth. I left my home at about 3 a.m. and was pulled over by the police for speeding. I was going 40 in a 30 and was the only car on the road…except for the cop! He kept me there for nearly 15 minutes and I guess my guilt trip of telling him how I was on my way to photograph a birth and how I was going to miss it, finally got through to him. No, I didn’t get a ticket. Whew!
I arrived at the birth center and she was literally born about 8 minutes after I walked in the door at 3:36 a.m. It was a whirlwind experience. Just amazing. I think these images really convey the what the room felt like that early morning. It was dark. I mean, DARK. I didn’t know my camera could function in such darkness actually. But, there was something about the darkness that was calming and natural. Now when I say momma is a birthing goddess, I mean that. She had an all-natural labor and went from 7 centimeters to birth in about 30 minutes, and she made it look EASY!
Baby A was born and she was SO alert! I can still vividly remember her looking around so calmly and taking it all in.
If you are interested in having your birth experience captured, please e-mail me at info@melissarodriguezphotography or call me at 956/975-4264. I am looking to expand my birth photography portfolio and would love to talk to you!
I hope you enjoy this small peek into this incredible experience.
LOVE this one! I can tell she’s going to be quite the little model! 😉
In her daddy’s arms. So sweet.
She TOTALLY makes it look easy! Seriously, does she ever NOT look fantastic????? These are great photos Melissa! Wow!
Wow!
Wow!
Love it, Melissa – awesome job!!!! I wish my schedule allowed me to do birth photography!! With another job, I just can’t do it. If I ever did photography full time, I would definitely be up for it. I’ve photographed 4 births, 3 being my nephews and 1, a good friend – loved it!!! 🙂
Hope y’all had a Merry Christmas! How’s little Miss Priss doing??
This is by far my favorite time of year! I get to see how big all of the babies are that I photographed as newborns years ago. Miss C and Miss A get cuter each time I see them. They gave me some of the most soulful looks, in addition to smiles, and I loved them so much that I had to share those. Thanks so much Monica for trusting me to photograph your beautiful girls again! I made sure not to feature any of the Christmas card possibilities, so you can keep those a surprise! 😉 This peek is a little brief because I have a sick little one to tend to tonight, but I didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer. Hope you enjoy it!
Wow that first picture is amazing! I love the black and white and how sharp the photo is. Nice work!
